Uzbekistan plans to import cotton from the US

The delegation discussed the possibilities of exporting Uzbek goods and their placement at the Amazon and Walmart sites.

Representatives of Uzbekistan discussed the purchase of cotton in the USA for processing in the republic. This was reported by the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade.

The delegation of the department at the end of July made a weekly trip to the United States with the aim of developing trade and economic ties and expanding exports. The program includes participation in the exhibitions of Texworld NYC, Apparel Sourcing USA and Home Textiles Sourcing Expo in New York.

A group of 25 companies introduced their textile products to them under a common brand Made in Uzbekistan. During the exhibitions, the guests met with representatives of American companies to discuss the possibilities of entering the US market and placing orders based on a sorting mechanism.

The negotiations were attended by the US Association (USFIA) and the Afa and Shoe Association, as well as companies such as Bunzl, Levi Strauss & Co, PVH Corp, G-III Apparel Group, Kontoor Brands, Macy ’, American Eagle Outfitters.

The delegation also took part in negotiations with the US Department of Trade. As noted in the ministry, the parties expressed interest in working out mechanisms for increasing trade, reducing trading barriers and expanding investment cooperation.

Another topic was the export of exports of the Uzbek agricultural products, textiles, building materials and electrical engineering. The issue of placing goods on marketplaces (Amazon, Walmart) and in retail chains (BloomingDale`s, Home Depot, Whole Foods Market) was affected.

In addition, the guests met with representatives of the trade law development program (CLDP) under the US Ministry of Education. The parties agreed to hold webinars and seminars for Uzbek exporters for certification and packaging in accordance with American standards.

With representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the US Cotton Association, US cotton supplies were discussed. Import is supposed to be organized under the GSM-102 credit guarantee program.

In the negotiations, the issue of increasing the credit limit was raised. In addition, it was proposed to launch the initiative of the Made from US Cotton for the supply of products from American cotton to foreign markets.

Earlier, Spot wrote that the United States and the European Union agreed on the mutual decrease in import duties subject to the purchase of American oil and gas from the EU.
