Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. According to the new report from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Uzbekistan is expected to experience sustainable economic growth in the coming years. In 2025, GDP is projected to increase by 6.6%, and by 6.7% in 2026. These figures will be supported by the development of industry, services, and stable domestic demand, reports Podrobno.uz.
In the April issue of the annual "Asian Development Outlook" (ADO), ADB notes that in 2024, the country's economy grew by 6.5% due to government measures supporting key sectors, including industry and construction.
Kanokpan Lao-Araiya, the Director of ADB's permanent representation in Uzbekistan, emphasized that investments in infrastructure and regional integration are creating a solid foundation for long-term and balanced growth.
According to the report, last year inflation decreased to 9.4% (from 10% in 2023) due to tightening monetary policy and reduced import costs. However, the price growth in services accelerated to 21.8% due to higher tariffs for electricity and gas.
It is expected that this year inflation will continue to decrease to 8%, and by 2026, it will reach 7%, despite the planned increase in energy prices.
The government budget deficit is forecasted to decrease to 4% of GDP in 2025–2026, thanks to fiscal consolidation measures and stable revenues from the extractive industries.
Industry is expected to grow by 7% annually, driven by demand for petrochemicals, textiles, and mining products.
The service sector will accelerate its growth – 7.8% in 2025 and 7.9% in 2026.
ADB highlights the importance of economic corridors for Uzbekistan's integration into regional supply chains. As a landlocked country, Uzbekistan is actively developing its transport and logistics infrastructure to diversify trade routes, reduce delivery times, and lower costs.
