New trend in retail: Time for brands from Central Asia
Russian retail continues to attract new brands, confirming its active development. In 2024, the market was replenished with 61 new brands, of which 33 are domestic and 28 are foreign. This trend shows the growing activity of Russian trade marks, which strive to occupy their place in the local market.Among foreign brands, the leaders are companies from China (25%), Italy (14%), Germany (11%), and Turkey (11%). However, the structure of Russian brands has undergone significant changes: emerging players accounted for 82% of new entries in the retail segment, while large retailers only provided 18% of market entries.
It can be noticed that Central Asian countries are not represented in this niche. Although it is well known that retailers and marketplace sellers process their orders specifically in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
This raises the question: Why is this happening? Why are our manufacturers not presenting their brands?
It is time to actively promote the textile and sewing industry of the region not only as a sourcing hub, but also as a worthy player that could compete with Chinese and Turkish brands.
