Mall of Uzbekistan. The country will establish shopping centers exclusively featuring national products
Large new-format shopping centers – Mall of Uzbekistan – will be established in the country, featuring exclusively domestic brands of clothing, footwear, and leather goods. Their creation was announced by the President at a meeting today.
Currently, Uzbekistan has more than 4,000 enterprises in the light and leather-footwear industries. However, there are no shopping venues where buyers can find a wide selection of national products in one place. The new centers will solve this issue: rental spaces will be offered to entrepreneurs at minimal rates.
Now, textile and leather-footwear enterprises where at least 15% of employees come from low-income families will be granted tax benefits. The profit tax rate for them will be 2%, and the social tax – 1%.
The conditions for receiving these benefits have been simplified: the mandatory employment quota for the needy has been halved, and employees with disabilities are now included in the calculation.
It should be noted that Uzbekistan is introducing a new system to support national brands. The goal is to increase their number and promote the most promising ones to the international level. A specialized company will be created for this purpose.
